Apaar Saxena wins Gold in Asian School U-9 Open Championship 2021

Karnataka wonder boy Apaar Saxena once again made India and Karnataka proud by winning Gold Medal in Asian School Chess Championship U-09 category organised by Chess Federation of Philippines. There were top 96 participants from 25 Asian countries participated in the tournament. Apaar played with 8 different countries players and scored 8 out of 9 games with 7 win and 2 draw, he has not lost any game in the tournament.

Charvi A wins Silver in Asian School U-7 Championship 2021

Charvi Anilkumar, seven year old has won second place (silver medal ) in Asian School Online Chess Championship -under 7 years girls category which concluded on 25th July 2021 ! Just 10 days back, she had won this year's Indian National School Chess Championship- under 7 years category. In Asian Championship, she missed the first place by a whisker and was adjudged second on tiebreaker. She is qualified to represent INDIA officially in “WORLD SCHOOL CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP”.

Charvi A wins National School U-7 Championship 2021

Charvi A won the National school chess championship under-7 category yesterday by scoring 9 out of 9(Unbeatable). She got selected for the Asian school chess championship and representing INDIA officially. She secured 18th place in National youth and Cadet under-10 girls and got selected to world youth and cadet championship.

Apaar Saxena had the podium finish with Bronze medal in Nationals School U-09 Open category. Apaar had a good run in the tournament with 8 wins out of 9 rounds out of 600 players. His commitment in learning chess during the pandemic period made him reach this position.

Arhan Chethan Anand wins Silver in National School U-15 and U-13 Open Championships 2021

Arhan represented Karnataka at the AICF National School Under 13 and Under 15 Open Chess Championships 2021. Arhan started at rank 8 in the under 15 open category. He was unbeaten and leading the championship in the penultimate round but had to settle for silver with a loss to top seed IM Pranesh M in the final round. Arhan scored 7.5 points in 9 rounds.
Arhan started at rank 2 in the under 13 open category. He was unbeaten scoring 8 points in 9 rounds narrowly missing the Gold.

Renganayaki V clinches 2021 National School Under-15 Championship for Girls

Top seed Renganayaki V of Karantaka in Girls won the 2021 National School Under-15 title. Renganayki, started the tournament as a top seed and maintained her lead till round 7 (with 7 points on 7 rounds) , despite the narrow loss on the 8th round, she kept the momentum and completed the tournament as a Title Winner. A feather in UKCA's Cap: Online Chess!
United Karnataka Chess Association organised successfully State level ONLINE Youth and Cadet Chess championships from June 3 to 12th June. More than 1400 players across the state participated in this mega event. The closing ceremony was conducted on 13th June at 9:30 in the morning. Top two players from each category will represent Karnataka.

India’s first Woman Grandmaster & Arjuna Awardee Vijayalakshmi Subbaraman inaugurated the Event by moving the pawn and addressed the gathering. She explained the importance of the championship, she shared her experience and her journey to chess success with all the participants of Under 16 Open and Girls Championship. She said that the Online platform is new to everyone but it’s a blessing as we can still play chess and enjoy even in the pandemic (lock down) situation. The path to success is not easy and we must focus more on our efforts, consistency and participation rather than results. She wished the participants for their chess career.

Inauguration ceremony of Karnataka State Youth & Cadet ONLINE Chess Championships 2021 (U-18)

The Online U-18 Boys and Girls online chess Championships kickstarted on Thursday, 3rd June 2021 at 9.30 am. Mr. Vinay Kurthkoti, Vice President of UKCA inaugurated the Event by lighting lamp and addressed the gathering. He explained the importance of the championship and also he remembered the contribution of late Shri Hanumantha. R for Karnataka chess.
Mr. Arvind Shastry, Hon'ble Secretary of UKCA also addressed the players and appreciated the Arbiters team for the effort they have put in for the championship. Being the first online championship, he requested full co-operation from all players and parents in making the event successful.
Mr.Manjunath Jain, Joint Secretary UKCA and Mr.Raghavendra.V, Treasurer UKCA were also present during Inauguration.

Sad Demise of Shri. Hanumantha, Secretary UKCA

It is with our deepest sorrow that we inform you of the death of our beloved secretary Shri Hanumantha today (15/04/2021) dues to Covid related issues. He was a great mentor to many of the chess champions of Karnataka. He showed Karnataka State Chess Association a right path and took Karnataka Chess to whole new level. We surely miss him and it is a great loss to the whole chess fraternity. Let us all keep him and his family in our thoughts and prayers. He will be always in our hearts - Team UKCA
