You’ll have opportunities to participate in official Karnataka State Chess Championships, rated-tournaments and other Open tournaments, there by taking your chess skills to whole new levels. France (24-04-2016): Continuing his fine form International Master Stany G A of Karnataka won the 14th Malakoff Open tournament here in France Today.
The tournament which started on 16th April had 4 Grand Masters and 15 International Masters and 224 participants from 18 countries of the world. Stany who was seeded 6th in the tournament scored 7.5 points from 9 rounds to clinch the title. He defeated IM Kernazhitsky(2284) of Ukrain, IM Sveshnikov Vladimir(2366) of Latvia, Seba Kamel(2242) of Alegeria. He drew against Tournament top seed GM Evgeny Sveshnikov(2502) of Latvia in 4th round and a draw in the final round against his fellow Indian compatriot GM Neelotpal Das(2457) ensured clear first place to Stany. With the Live Rating of 2476 Stany needs 24 rating points and 2 more GM norms to become a Grand Master.

GM elect and international master Thejkumar of Karnataka continued his good run in Dubai open 2016. Starting as 67th seed with a rating 2427 in a very strong field which has 23 players above 2600 rating. In the second round Thej defeated GM Mchedlishvili Mikhiel(2615) from Georgia. Third round he lost to second seed of the tournament GM Korobov Anton(2695) of Ukraine. Fourth round he bounced back with clinical win against fellow indian GM Arun Prasad.Sixth round he accounted for strong Latvian Grand master Igor Kovalenko rated 2662.
